Former Ole Miss Rebels head coach Hugh Freeze could return to the SEC college football ranks as soon as next season.
Freeze could potentially be the new offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Volunteers, according to a report from VolQuest. The site reported that Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt had a meeting with Freeze to talk ‘ball and the offensive coordinator position.’
Tennessee is without an OC after Tyson Helton took the head coaching position at Western Kentucky. The Vols finished 2018 with a 5-7 overall record with more than 3,900 yards of total offense.
Freeze came to Ole Miss in 2012 and stepped down in 2017 amid a scandal. During his tenure at the helm of the program, he guided the Rebels to a total of 39 wins and four straight bowl games with back-to-back ’New Years Six’ bowl berths.
Back in October, the Arizona Hotshots—a new Alliance of American Football league— hired Freeze as its offensive coordinator. The inaugural season kicks off in February of 2019.
