With Journalism Jobs Declining, What is Your Dream Career?
With the number of journalism jobs declining nationwide, some students in the Meek School of Journalism at the University of Mississippi are feeling the strain of finding employment after graduation.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of reporters, correspondents, and broadcast news analysts is projected to decline 13 percent from 2012 to 2022. Declining advertising revenue in radio, newspapers, and television will also negatively impact the employment growth for these occupations.
Dr. Bradley Schultz, associate professor of journalism, said that students needs to be more proactive when looking for employment and they do not need look to their professors to find it for them.
Schultz said that professors are only here to help you find a job not get you a job.
