Wall Street Journal Lists Square Books in National Book Tour
The Wall Street Journal posted an article that listed thriving independent book stores across the country. There was no ranking but Square Books was mentioned first.

Southern Spell: Oxford, Miss.
William Faulkner’s “own little postage stamp of native soil” looks like a movie set of a perfect Southern town, with gracious buildings set around a central square. It’s not all looks: Thanks to Faulkner and Ole Miss, Oxford also offers great contemporary writers (John Grisham, Beth Ann Fennelly and Ace Aktins), football and food.
The Z bed-and-breakfast is a cozy inn five minutes from the Square; it serves a huge breakfast that can carry you past lunch. For dinner, John Currence ’s City Grocery dishes up elevated Southern fare such as Maque Choux Fritters—creamed-corn fritters with tomato jam and fresh thyme. Nearby Ajax Diner serves a mean meat-and-three.
Leave time to visit Faulkner’s home, Rowan Oak, as well as his grave. (You will likely find an homage pint of Jack Daniel’s resting against his stone.) Also plan to hit all three incarnations of Square Books. The original location on Courthouse Square is recognizable by the 90-foot-long balcony that runs along the second story. Inside, every available inch of wall space is covered with photographs of writers, posters of writers and memorabilia from (yes) writers. A few doors down, Off Square Books focuses on gardening, home and food, and hosts the Thacker Mountain Radio Hour, a live show featuring readings and musical performances. Square Books, Jr., is dedicated to the under-18 set.
