Thad is right for Mississippi.

Commentary by HottyToddy.com/Experience Oxford Publisher Ed Meek
HottyToddy.com enthusiastically endorses Sen. Thad Cochran in his re-election campaign and we urge our readers to turn out and re-elect this faithful Mississippi public servant in the runoff election on June 24 and in the general election on Nov. 4.
searchThe positive reasons we support this Ole Miss graduate and highly successful U.S. senator seem so self-evident as to almost speak for themselves.
But we’ll tell you anyway! As the former Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee and potentially the new Chairman if the Senate changes hands in November, Sen. Cochran, literally, is at the focal point of federal funds that are distributed to the states. Our senior Senator has traditionally done a wonderful job of ensuring Mississippi gets its fair share of those critical dollars.
Specifically, Oxford and Ole Miss have been the beneficiaries of millions of federal dollars brought to our community largely by Sen. Cochran.
With economic challenges facing Mississippi, now is certainly not the time to elect a candidate whose entire political philosophy is based on shrinking the ability of the Federal Government to help Mississippians in need.
But it’s not just the disadvantaged citizens of our state who benefit from a strong advocate like Sen. Thad Cochran in Washington. Our business environment and the growth of our technology infrastructure are also at risk in the absence of a steady hand at the helm of appropriations.
search-1In Oxford, Sen. Cochran has been instrumental in the development and growth of major jobs providers like Winchester, FNC, and Caterpillar and internationally recognized research programs at Ole Miss.
Is agriculture where your priorities lie? Sen. Cochran is the ranking member of the Senate Agricultural Committee. The Pontotoc native understands the importance of farming to this state and the critical and evolving relationship between government and the future viability of the family farm.
Is experience, seniority, and positioning everything in politics? The short answer — YES, but character counts as well. Read our current interview with Madison Mayor Mary Hawkins Butler if you want to know about Sen. Cochran’s character.
Frankly, we believe the choice in this runoff and the general election is crystal clear. Please vote for the Sen. Thad Cochran on June 24 and Nov. 4. You’ll be doing your fellow Mississippians and Oxonians a big favor!

“Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.”
If you want the Federal government to borrow money and send it back home as pork, vote for Cochran.
If you want someone who wants to get our fiscal house in order so that capitalism and free enterprise can increase the wealth of all Americans, vote for McDaniel.
    I’m voting for McDaniel
