UPDATE: Winter Weather Continues Across North Mississippi

Published

on

While the Winter Storm Warning has expired, the National Weather Service in Memphis, Tenn. issued a Special Weather Statement for the Mid-South until further notice.
According to the NWS at 8:57 a.m., light snow and hazardous driving conditions are expected to continue throughout the day. Snow accumulations should remain at less than an inch throughout the afternoon today. The very cold temperatures will also remain, so any ice and snow will not melt.
“Mid-South residents are urged to delay travel until road conditions improve or unless it is an emergency,” the NWS said. “Please continue to monitor the latest updates from the National Weather Service in Memphis.”
The Oxford School District delayed the start of class by two hours, but both Oxford and Lafayette are continuing with a normal school day today. Northwest Community College in Senatobia, Miss. has cancelled day classes and the administrative offices are closed. No word on Monday night classes.
HottyToddy.com will continue to monitor the weather conditions and post any updates throughout the day.
