Undercover Rebel at the National Championship

Published

on

I’m an Ole Miss Rebel. I am a third-generation graduate of the University of Mississippi. Growing up, I spent my falls in the Grove, winters at the Tad Pad and summers at Swayze Field. And now I’m managing editor for HottyToddy.com.
There’s no doubt I’m for the Red and Blue.*
However, this weekend, I’ll be trading in my Red to wear Orange with my Blue. Don’t think I’ve lost faith in my Rebels or anything that drastic. I’m not a sell out. I’m just taking the opportunity to leave the Mississippi cold and warm up in Pasadena for a few days. My sister is a senior at Auburn University and, for Christmas, she asked to go to the National Championship to cheer on her Tigers.

I'll be representing backup QB Johnathan Wallace. (No particular reason, we had to Google the roster.)

Chance would have it that both of our significant others work in the oil industry, so they are momentarily offshore and/or in Alaska. With no boyfriend to escort her to Pasadena, big sister gets to fill in. Woohoo for me!
In preparation, my sweet sister bought me an Auburn jersey to wear to the game. I’ve also stocked up on blue/orange apparel at Target (of course). Luckily, my fiancé grew up an Auburn fan, so I have plenty of tshirts to “borrow”.
We land at LAX on Saturday night and return to the mid-South on Tuesday. We plan on sightseeing, stalking celebrities, attending the official Auburn pep rally, and, of course, cheering on the Tigers at the Rose Bowl stadium.
Look for me on TV, Rebel fans! I’ll be the one who looks lost, doesn’t know all the ‘weagle weagle’ words, and attempts to start a ‘Hotty Toddy’ instead. (What do Auburn fans say when you ask if they’re ready?) I promise I’ll be back in my red and blue next week!
War Eagle! and Hotty Toddy!
