TJ Ray: Rainy and Cold This Week – Spring Changes Its Mind
It’s obvious – last week God decided to smile down on the Oxford Film Festival and Ole Miss Rebel Baseball by inundating our area with an amazing glimpse of springtime in His chosen country: Lafayette County, Mississippi.
This week’s weather: Rainy with thunderstorms today (Tuesday, February 23) and Wednesday. Then, temps drop significantly (again) with highs only reaching into the upper-40s. Lows will hover around the freezing mark until a slight warm-up rolls in around Friday and into the weekend. Sunny skies will dominate the latter portion of the week… but what’s up with the cold snap?
The above could be worse, I imagine – but “worse” is strictly subjective when you are expecting spring to roar in at any minute. Yes, there are many out there that don’t appreciate freezing temperatures, even in February. I personally blame all of this on 2016 being a leap year. That just has a way of throwing everything out of whack (in my simple mind).
Regardless… around this same time last year, HottyToddy.com’s exemplary photo contributor, TJ Ray, shot these images containing what he’d hoped would be a kick-off for spring’s arrival in Oxford THIS year. Instead, they’re serving quite nicely as a “tease” of sorts; a reminder that we’re not out of this yet.
