The Daily Crime Report for Tuesday, April 22
The Oxford Police Department investigated one wreck, issued 11 traffic tickets and made one arrest, on the charges of simple assault and grand larceny.
Oxford Police also responded to seven disturbances, a suspicious vehicle, two petit larcenies, five ambulance assists, suspicious activity, parking complaint, two malicious mischiefs, two suspicious persons, three fire department assists, a 911 hang-up call, civil matter, and simple assault and grand larceny.
The University Police Department responded to the following incidents Monday, April 21: Drugs – possession of paraphernalia at Stockard Hall, vandalism to vehicle at Stewart Hall, traffic assists on Coliseum Drive and Hill Drive, ambulance needed at Sorority Lot, motor vehicle accident at Kinard Hall, warrants served at Music Building and Lamar Hall, motor vehicle accident at Martin Hall, warrant served at Brown Hall, ambulance needed at Music Building, petit larceny at Starnes Training Center, suspicious person at Faser Hall, driving wrong way on one-way street at Women’s Terrace, seat belt violation, hit-and-run accident at Crosby Hall, disturbance – loud/unnecessary music or noise at Campus Walk Apartments, speeding and running a stop sign.
The Oxford Fire Department responded to the following incidents Monday, April 21: – Testing alarm system, at Mechanics Bank on West Jackson Avenue, 8:25 a.m. – Workers activated the alarm system, at the new Oxford University Bank on University Avenue, at 1:14 p.m. – EMS assist, Oxford Skate Park, at 5:11 p.m. – Resident burned food, activating the smoke detector, at 304 Hayat Loop, at 6 p.m.
