The Daily Crime Report for April 4
The Oxford Police Department investigated six wrecks, issued 42 tickets and made eight arrests, on the following charges: public drunk; disorderly conduct; speeding, suspended driver’s license; possession of Schedule 2 drug; ran stop sign, possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of Schedule 4 drug; and possession of drug paraphernalia; ran red light, first-offense DUI; and careless driving, no seat belt, first-offense DUI.
Oxford Police also received the following reports: nine disturbances, six alarms, two open doors, two malicious mischief, two suspicious vehicles, suspicious activity, grand larceny, 911 hang-up call, fire department assist, welfare concern, reckless driving, lost property, residential burglary – Old Taylor Road and code enforcement violation – littering.
The University Police Department responded to the following incidents on Thursday, April 3:
Larceny – shoplifting, first or second offense, two loud/unnecessary music or noise, traffic assist, five speeding, motor vehicle accident, service call – ambulance needed/wrecker, disturbance, speeding and suspended license; not implied consent; ambulance needed, malicious mischief, hit-and-run accident and public drunk.
The Oxford Fire Department responded to the following call, on Thursday, April 3:
– A fire alarm at 132 Courthouse Square, at 2:57 p.m.
– An oven on fire at 416 Cherokee Drive, at 4:49 p.m.
