The Daily Crime Report for April 28

The Oxford Police Department investigated 20 wrecks, 49 traffic citations and made 22 arrests, on the following charges: failure to use turn signal and first-offense DUI; no headlights and first-offense DUI; littering; speeding and first-offense DUI; careless driving and first-offense DUI; malicious mischief; sexual battery; disorderly conduct; careless driving and first-offense DUI; careless driving and first-offense DUI; careless driving, driving while license suspended and second-offense DUI; alcohol possession by minor; careless driving and first-offense DUI; disturbing the peace; willful trespassing; four public drunks; public drunk and resisting arrest; disregard for traffic control device and first-offense DUI; and failure to yield to traffic control device, careless driving and first-offense DUI.
Oxford Police also responded to two littering complaints, 12 alarms, 26 disturbances, eight ambulance assists, eight welfare concerns, two 911 hang-up calls, two damaged property calls, nine lost property calls, harassing phone call, grand larceny, two counterfeit bills, four suspicious people, two trespassing, four suspicious activities, two domestic violence, two malicious mischief, public drunk, animal cruelty, two scams, auto burglary, simple assault, two motor vehicle assists, two improper parking, petit larceny and fire department assists.
The University Police Department responded to the following incidents this weekend:
Friday, April 25 Improper equipment on Fraternity Row, failure to dim headlines on Sorority Row, traffic assists on Coliseum Drive, hit-and-run accident at Tad Smith Coliseum, petit larceny at Stockard Hall, two motor vehicle accidents on Rebel Drive, careless driving, assault – simple assault domestic violence, hit-and-run accident at Campus Run Apartments, three seat belt violations, two running a stop sign, suspicious vehicle at the Khayat Law School, vehicle stop, speeding and alcohol – public drunk at Sigma Nu fraternity house.
Saturday, April 26 Two speeding, Assault – other assaults – simple – not aggravated at Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity house, running a stop sign on University Avenue, alcohol – intoxicated person on Sorority Row, drugs – possession of paraphernalia on Fraternity Row, suspicious person at Kincannon Hall Parking Lot, disturbance at Sigma Nu fraternity house, traffic assist on Sorority Row, vandalism to vehicle on Rebel Drive, failure to yield right-of-way, five seat belt violations, alcohol – possession of alcoholic beverage over 21 at Khayat Law School, drugs – possession of paraphernalia at Fraternity Alley, hit-and-run accident, ambulance needed at Delta Gamma sorority house, vandalism to vehicle on Campus Walk Apartments, disturbance at Alpha Tau Omega fraternity house and driving without headlights on Fraternity Alley.
Sunday, April 27 Two suspicious persons, careless driving on Rebel Drive, suspicious person at J.D. Williams Library, assault – other assaults – simple, not aggravated on Rebel Drive, motor vehicle accident on Lucky Residential College and vandalism – malicious mischief at Stockard Hall.
The Oxford Fire Department responded to the following incidents this weekend:
Friday, April 25 – Call canceled en route, at State Veterans Home, at 12:06 p.m. – Simples Grinnell working on the sprinkler system, on Oxford Square North, at 12:32 p.m.
Saturday, April 26 – Fire department extinguished the fire, grass fire, on Highway 7 / Highway 30, at 5:22 p.m.
