The Daily Crime Report for April 25

The Oxford Police Department investigated 11 wrecks, issued 29 tickets and made one arrest, on the charge of shoplifting.
Oxford Police also responded to five disturbances, four alarms, three ambulance assists, two fire department assists, two suspicious persons, suspicious activity, a welfare concern, petit larceny, a 911 wrong number, improper parking, shoplifting, trespassing and code enforcement violation.
The University Police Department responded to the following incidents Thursday, April 24:
Driving without headlights on Rebel Drive, vandalism – malicious mischief over $500 at Phi Kappa Tau, alcohol – intoxicated driver at The Ridges, traffic assists on Coliseum Drive, vandalism – malicious mischief at the Indoor Practice Facility, two hit-and-run accidents, larceny – burglary – auto parts and accessories, suspicious vehicle in the Kincannon Hall Parking Lot, and hit-and-run accident and first-offense DUI on Sorority Row.
The Oxford Fire Department responded to the following incidents Thursday, April 24:
– Dumpster fire behind Newk’s, at Newk’s West Jackson, at 11:47 a.m. – Carbon monoxide detector activation, at Hefley Hall, at 1:30 p.m. – Smoke detector malfunction, at 215 Carol Lane, at 1:49 p.m.
