The Daily Crime Report for April 2
The Oxford Police Department investigated six wrecks, issued 64 tickets and made six arrests, on the following charges: possession of less than an ounce of marijuana; no seatbelt, no insurance, possession of alcohol by minor; one headlight, no driver’s license, no insurance, false identifying information; public drunk; first-offense DUI; and careless driving, suspended driver’s license, no insurance, third-offense DUI.
Oxford Police also responded to three disturbances, two identity thefts, two simple assaults, two ambulance assists, two animal bites, two alarms, malicious mischief, open door, welfare concern, petit larceny, harassing phone calls, civil matter animal running at large, gas leak, 911 hang-up call, littering and code enforcement – waste dumping.
The University Police Department responded to the following incidents on Tuesday, April 1: Three running stop sign, speeding, suspicious person, traffic assist, accident with personal injury, petit larceny, cyberstalking and stalking, ambulance needed in the Kudzu Lot, computer – email to defraud and computer crime – offense against computer users, hit-and-run accident, driving wrong way on one-way street, vehicle stop, harassment and computer crime-offense against computer users.
The Oxford Fire Department responded to the following call:
– A gas leak underground in the 1100 Tyler Ave. area, at 10:22 a.m. First responders stood by until Center Point Energy arrived.
