Southerners socializing dynamic is like none other and most of can attest that we enjoy a place where we can socialize while enjoying the roots of fine southern music, food and libations. If you are like me I love a place where I can experience it at different times and enjoy it just as much.
about_photo_01Our next stop takes us to the iconic 200 Peachtree address the home of one of Atlanta’s staple restaurants Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint. Don’t let the modern day design fool you. The interior design and walls are adorned with the nostalgic mementos that will take you back to the birth of the “boogie-woogie” music that juke joints are known for.
This a perfect place to take a day or an evening break an relax with the music and aroma of good southern cuisine not to mention so local libations to quench your thirst.
While reservations are not required they are recommended especially if you have a large Rebel party coming in. If you’re visiting, hours are 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Friday.
img_0526If you stop in at lunch I recommend the chicken and waffles that’s always a classic and who doesn’t like breakfast food at all hours of the day. If not go classic with a Juke Cheeseburger or Meatloaf Sandwich this will be hearty and filling till dinner rolls around.
For the dinner crowd start off with some crispy crawfish tails while you wait on that entree. Anything looks scrumptious on this menu but I would go for the White Oak Pasture short ribs with mashed potatoes and their signature baked beans with molasses and smoked bacon. If you want something lighter try their fresh salads or signature veggie plates. If you have room the for dessert try their bourbon pecan pies one of my favorites. After a meal here you will be ready to paint the town Rebel Red.
So swing into the Joint while you’re exploring around downtown Atlanta and you won’t be disappointed
