As we near the end of the semester, the atmosphere changes at Ole Miss. Students divert their attention to their studies rather than partying. The bars become deserted and the students head to the library (no, not the bar — the studying one.)
Finals begin next week and in preparation for the stressful week, HottyToddy.com has prepared a list of places to study.
libraryJD Williams Library: Although the most obvious choice, it is one of the most practical. Open 24 hours during finals week, it is perfect for studying at any time. The Starbucks café located in the front of the building will also have extended hours to provide that needed coffee to sleep deprived students.
Cups: Fairly new, the coffee shop is perfect for anyone looking to avoid the crowd at the library. An added bonus is that they will have extended hours both this week and next. Open 24 hours a day until finals end, Cups provides a laid back atmosphere for students. Just be aware, the store is a bit smaller so it could be fairly packed during peak hours.
High Pointe: There are two locations in Oxford — one on the Square and one on Jackson Avenue. The operating hours vary depending on the location, but both provide a great atmosphere for students studying for finals. Grab a blueberry muffin and one of their coffee roasts and crank out some studying.
Panera: A new addition to the town of Oxford, Panera offers both coffee and food. Located on Jackson Avenue near Starbucks, Panera has lots of tables and booths for students. The combination of food and caffeine means students will not have to leave to eat or find coffee. It’s all conveniently in one place.
starbucksStarbucks: A classic and go-to place for students is Starbucks. There are two on campus between the student union and the library, and a new location on Jackson Avenue. Endless amounts of caffeine and snacks await the weary student. The quiet bustling of the store is relaxing and conducive for finals week.
Bottletree Bakery: For students that like to accomplish most of their studying during the day, Bottletree Bakery is the place to be. The bakery is open from 7 a.m. to 2:30 pm Tuesday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 2:30 pm Saturday and Sunday. Grab breakfast and a coffee at Bottletree and crack open a book.
Public Library: A place not commonly taken advantage of by students, the public library is a great resource. Open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, the public library is a quiet place to study that isn’t overcome with students. I highly recommend you bring your own coffee, but nonetheless, the library can provide great studying benefits with plenty of room and wireless access.

The rooms are incredibly quiet and offer students a peaceful place to study alone or in a group without having to go off campus. They are always available for use, but beware that these rooms fill up fast, so get there early!
Although only a few are listed, there are many places throughout Oxford that provide a quiet place to study and free Wi-Fi. Look around and you may find that secret spot that won’t be crowded with students. For those of you that partied all semester, good luck on this difficult week. For those that have prepared, you’ll do great!
May the luck be ever in your favor! Let the games begin.
