“When I turned 40, I realized how many friends were calling me asking about sitters for their children,” says Cindy Yelverton, founder and owner of Sitters, LLC. “A light went off. I realized I could provide a wonderful service to families who really needed quality, affordable childcare they could count on. I did my research, studying a nanny service I had used for my own family in Destin, Florida. We started the business from the ground up out of my home with only a few caregivers to start. I did all the leg work, which involved a tremendous amount of contacting potential organizations and friends that might see a need. After a couple of years, the business had grown in scope to include caring for adults and grandparents.”

Today, Sitters has a pool of more than 150 potential caregivers for families in Jackson, Oxford, Tupelo, and surrounding areas. The caregiver and the families determine the exact services provided by the caregiver.
All Ages
For children, the caregivers typically do creative activities, meal preparation, kitchen cleaning after meals, help kids pick up toys, wash and dry soiled clothes, general housekeeping, keeping kids clean, and transporting kids to fun activities.
On the adult care side, the caregivers typically do personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, medication reminders, general housekeeping, companionship, Alzheimer’s care, respite care to give families a break, help for adults recovering from illness, transportation, and cleaning.

Sitters’ selection of potential caregivers for families is targeted to individual requirements.

All potential caregivers are over 21, have passed national background checks, and are subjected to a rigorous referencing process.
