Federal search warrants executed at the home of Paul Kevin Curtis have failed to find evidence of the ricin poison contained in the letters sent to President Obama, Senator Roger Wicker and a Mississippi justice official.

The findings were reported at a detention hearing for Curtis that continued today in Oxford federal court. Special Agent Brandon M. Grant also reported no evidence of castor beans or equipment that could be used to produce the poison.

A senate official told the Associated Press last Thursday that the ricin contained in the letters was not weaponized, and was not in a form that could easily enter the body.

Federal agents did confirm, however, that the letters mailed to Obama and Wicker on April 8 were sent from Lee County Mississippi.

The detention hearing, now in lunch recess, will resume at 1:45 p.m. today.
