Rebs Embark on SEC Tourney

The Ole Miss baseball team opens up play in the 2013 SEC Tournament in Hoover Alabama, on Tuesday against the Kentucky Wildcats at 9:30 a.m.

Ole Miss (36-20, 15-15 SEC) comes into this week as the No. 6 seed.  The Rebels closed out their season with a series loss to the LSU Tigers. In the victory on Saturday over the Tigers, Preston Overbey knocked two home runs out of the park and drove in a total of five RBI’s to push his team to the score of 11-9.

Kentucky (30-24, 11-19 SEC) is making back-to-back appearances in the tournament –– drawing the Ole Miss Rebels as an opponent each year. The Wildcats Roll into Hoover after a series loss to the Missouri Tigers.

The Wildcats and Rebels will be meeting on the diamond for the fourth time this season.  Ole Miss fell to Kentucky back in April, losing two-of-three games.

The matchup in Hoover will be a single elimination with the winner advancing to play the No. 3 seed Arkansas and then moving into the double elimination portion of the 2013 SEC Tournament.
