Rebels Visit Coastal Carolina for First Road Game

The Ole Miss Rebel basketball team face their first road contest on Saturday night against Coastal Carolina in Conway, S.C. at 6 p.m.

Ole Miss (1-0) opened it’s regular season last Friday night with a 69-54 win over Troy. The Rebels where led in scoring by junior Jarvis Summers who had a career-high 28 points against the Trojans.

In the win over Troy, junior Aaron Jones picked up were he left off last year before getting hurt against Kentucky. He  pulled in 13 boards in the season opener.

Senior Marshall Henderson will join his teammates  on the court against Coastal. Henderson set an SEC record by making 138 three-pointers last season. He also drained a three-pointer in 36 straight games.

Coastal Carolina (1-1) welcomes the Rebels into town after scoring a win over Guilford after dropping the season-opener to Akron. The Chanticleers top returner is senior El Hadji Ndiguene who averaged 6.1 points with 6.9 rebounds per game, starting 27 games.

The Rebels will face a familiar face for Coastal in senior Eric Smith who played for South Carolina last year. Smith scored 12 points on Ole Miss last season including a three-pointer with 25.1 seconds remaining in the game.

When Ole Miss and Coastal Carolina tip-off on Saturday it will be the second meeting between the schools. Last November, the Rebels defeated the Chants by a score of 90-72. Henderson led the way in scoring with 27 in the contest.
