The No. 14 Ole Miss Rebels defeated Louisiana Lafayette by the score of 56-15 Saturday in their first home game of the season. With the win, the Rebels improve to a record of 3-0 with one conference win.
From the start, the Rebels looked determined to open up at home with a win. Coach Hugh Freeze’s squad jumped out to an early 28-0 score over the Ragin’ Cajuns.
Ole Miss got their first score on a 56-yard touchdown run by I’Tavius Mathers. Then, Jaylen Walton sprinted for a 40- yard touchdown run, and the Rebels never looked back.
Senior quarterback Bo Wallace threw for 316 yards on four touchdowns with one interception. Wide receiver Vince Sanders caught two touchdown passes.
The Rebel defense put together another stellar game. Senquez Golson had two interceptions on the day, returning one for a touchdown.
Up next for the Ole Miss will be Memphis on Sept. 27.
