The Ole Miss baseball team leaves the comforts of Swayze Field and head south for a three-game series with Florida International University in Miami on Friday. This weekend’s series will be the first road test of the season for the Rebels after playing their first nine games at home.

No. 8 Ole Miss (8-1) comes into the series after a sweep of No. 12 TCU and Rhode Island and two mid-week game wins over UT-Martin and Arkansas Pine Bluff.  The Rebels lone loss on the season came against the Memphis Tigers on Tuesday night, by a score of 4-3.

Junior catcher Stuart Turner leads the Rebels with two home runs and ten RBI’s on the year and a .357 bating average.

Florida International (7-2) rolls into the weekend after splitting their mid-week games against Texas Tech.  Edwin Ross leads the Golden Panthers at the plate with a .455 bating average. He has one home run on the year with 11 RBI’s and a total of ten runs scored.

The probable pitching rotation for Coach Mike Bianco’s squad is junior Bobby Wahl, junior Mike Mayers and sophomore Chris Ellis.  The Golden Panthers rotation for this weekend’s series showcases junior Mike Ellis, junior Tyler Alexander and junior Mike Franco.

Ole Miss and Florida International are meeting on the diamond for the first time. Game times are set for 5:00 p.m. today, 3:00 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday.
