Rebels Host Memphis at Home

Ole Miss and Memphis meet on the diamond today for the 138th meeting.

The Ole Miss Rebels return to action today against the Memphis Tigers at Swayze field, with the first pitch set for 4:00 p.m.

The Rebels remain at number eight in the country this week according to the Baseball America poll, with a record of seven and zip on the season.  Ole Miss comes into the game with the Tigers after a sweep over the Rhode Island Rams.

Memphis (4-3) is rolling into Oxford after sweeping Missouri over the weekend.

Carter White leads the Tigers at the plate with a .500 batting average and two RBI’s on the year.

Ole Miss’s sophomore RHP Josh Laxer will take the mound against Memphis. Laxer has seen action in two games this season.  He has worked a total of five innings, giving up one run on two hits, with two walks and a single strike out.

Memphis is starting senior LHP Michael Wills. Wills has pitched a total of 4.2 innings on the season, with two walks, six strike outs and only giving up five hits.  He faced the Rebels both times last season, with a record of one win and one loss.

Ole Miss and Memphis are no strangers on the baseball diamond, with today’s meeting being the 138th time they have played.  The Rebels hold the 89-48 overall record.
