Rebel Rousers: An Alabama Game Pump-Up Playlist

Published

on

Tune in, turn on, and get mean.

The Rebs have the ability and confidence to pull off a major upset tomorrow in Tuscaloosa. “Major” is an understatement, since we’ve only beat them once there, and that was 1988. But we can do it.

Fridays before games typically find me blaring tunes that indulge the fantasy of whomping the dog mess out of the opponent. This week, I thought I’d share the tunes of the day with you, in hopes they might also lift your spirits heading into the big game. Get a mean-on.

So, here you go—just a scant few songs. They may not be your cup of tea, but they work for me, and I figure they might work for some other folks. Enjoy:

Roll me over and turn me around:

This one is dedicated to Hugh Freeze, the Seeker:

A few AC/DC songs have been done to death in stadiums, but you never this one, which makes me want to bust through a wall like the Kool-Aid Kid:

While you’re at the job working nine to five, the ‘Diche Boys are on McCarron cold kickin’ it live:

It’s all over but the shouting; I’ve come to take what’s mine:

Maybe Saban will be singing this Saturday night:

Hey Tide fans, I hate to break it to you, but I think your boy Nick will be headed to Austin in January, and you will be singing that your Jesus just left Tuscaloosa and is bound for new orange sleeves. He’s waitin’ for the bus all season. Which brings us to That Lil Ol’ Band From Texas:

And last but not least, the cornerstone of the list. No, it’s not a song wishing for Confederate days. It combines “Dixie” and “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”, as a love letter to the entire country. That’s why the slightly different version, that the Ole Miss band used to play is titled “From Dixie With Love.” “Dixie” alone was played in the old days. “From Dixie With Love,” like “American Trilogy”, is a song of reconciliation. With everyone except Alabama.

BEAT ALABAMA. OLE MISS, BY DAMN. Take it, baby:
