Pedal for Patriots Raises Money for Navy SEALs

“I was given a tour of the Naval Special Warfare Center in Coronado, California,” Christian Fitzgerald, the brilliant mind behind Pedal for Patriots, said. “I was shown a room where pictures of SEALs covered the wall. I was told that these were all of the SEALs that have been killed since the War on Terror started. To be honest, I was stunned. The perception is that SEALs can’t be harmed because literally they are the best of the best when it comes to elite warriors. The harsh reality is they can be and will continue to be harmed, and many have made the ultimate sacrifice. When these events occur, they impact not only the SEALs, the Teams, but also their families. It was at that moment I decided I needed to do something to give back to these fearless warriors and their families. Pedal for Patriots was born!”

photo-6Pedal for Patriots is a 619 mile bicycle ride to raise money for the Navy SEAL Foundation. From Oct. 8 to Oct. 23 Christian and other dedicated supporters will suit up and hit the streets from Atlanta, Georgia, to Virginia Beach, Virginia, in hopes of raising awareness and money for the SEALs. The riders will cycle 100 plus miles for six days straight making their 619 mile journey across the States.

It’s truly an amazing thing what these individuals do in order to give back to the true heroes, the SEALs. Navy SEALs are  trained to operate in all environments-Sea, Air and Land-from scorching deserts to the freezing Arctic. The SEALs current pursuit of elusive, dangerous and high-priority terrorist targets have them operating in remote, mountainous regions of Afghanistan, and in cities torn by factional violence.

Pedal for Patriots was born through the inspiration the SEALs gave Christian Fitzgerald.  He knew he wanted to make a difference and celebrate America’s heroes.

“On Oct. 8, myself, other riders and other dedicated support team, will start pedaling our bicycles from Atlanta to Virginia Beach,” Christian said. “We will pedal 619 miles in 6 days to raise money for the Navy SEAL Foundation. 100 percent of the funds raised will go to the foundation.”

It is worth mentioning again, 100 percent of the money raised will go directly to the Navy SEAL Foundation.”

Fitzgerald is an Ole Miss alumni and is married to Leigh-Ellen Fitzgerald, whom is also an Ole Miss alumni.  They have two daughters, Mary and Sadie Fitzgerald.
