Oxford school campuses will look different next year in regard to each school’s grade structure.
That’s why officials with the new Oxford Intermediate School (OIS), next year’s fifth- and sixth-grade school, are hosting a Parent Night Thursday, May 1 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the present Oxford Middle School upper cafeteria area. Parents and families with Oxford School District school children entering fifth and sixth grades in the 2014-2015 school year are encouraged to attend this important parent meeting.
The event is a come-and-go where parents, families and students can meet and greet the new school’s teachers and administrators, including new OIS Principal Steve Hurdle. The new fifth- and sixth-grade campus will be located where the current Oxford Middle School campus is at 501 Martin Luther King, Jr., Drive.
Those attending will get an inside look of what the new Oxford Intermediate School will look like next year in regard to the campus layout and school schedules. Guided tours of the building will be offered along with the opportunity for parents and families to meet with school officials to find out answers to questions about the new school and next year’s plans. The grade reconfiguration change is one that school officials want parents and students to start preparing for now before the 2014-2015 school year begins Monday,  August 18.
Parents, families and students are welcome to attend the free event, and refreshments will be served. For more information about the Oxford Intermediate School Parent Night, call (662) 234-2288.
