The Oxford School District sent the following newsletter to remind parents, students and faculty that school is in fact in session on Good Friday this year and the reasons why.
School is in session Friday, April 18 for Oxford School District students, teachers and staff. Originally marked as a school holiday, it’s a regular school day for Oxford schools.
Here’s why school is in session:
1. Tuesday, February 11 was a snow day, or inclement weather day, for Oxford schools. Our Board of Trustees designated April 18, 2014, as the first school make-up day for inclement weather when they approved the 2013-2014 Academic Calendar.
2. All Mississippi school districts are *required* to have 180 student school days during an academic year.
