Yep… we’re waiting, waiting and (mostly) anticipating the opening of the 2016 Oxford Film Festival, probably more so this year than any other.
The reason? Well, one of them most certainly is the fact that Oxford filmmaking alumni are expected to be on hand at the festival in droves this year; filmmakers who will see their work screened in Oxford for the second (or third or fourth) time in as many years. Filmmakers who we call friends, ones we can slap on the back over a beer at our favorite bar. Heck, some of us (not me) may even on the big screen ourselves.
Below, you’ll find a partial list of Oxonians who’ll stand tall and make us proud… again… at the popular four day festival headed our way in just a few short weeks.
Director Gerald Peary (For the Love of Movies/2010) will introduce his new film, Archie’s Betty at this year’s festival. The film is an independent documentary search for the real-life characters behind the Archie comics.
Broke Dick Dog director G.B. Shannon (Fresh Skweezed/2012, Pretty Monsters/2012, Songs in the Key of Death/2013, and others) will premiere his new film about three newly acquainted brothers who confront their long absent and indifferent father.
Director Coop Cooper (The Best Day/2012) will show his new music video Down Down Down during this year’s festival. The music video by Steve Kolbus and the Clarksdale Blues Revue was shot on location, live at Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, Miss.
In his music video fallen Star AJC & The Envelope Pushers, director Clay Hardwick will show what happens when you make it to the top. The video combines three original songs into a cinematic narrative, following AJC into a world of bitter famedom. Of course, making a deal at the crossroads has its costs
