Oxford Daily Crime Report: Friday thru Sunday, Nov. 7 – 9

Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 13 disturbances, 12 alarms, 10 suspicious activities, eight careless drivers, six noise complaints, six welfare concerns, four ambulance assists, four petit larcenies, two grand larcenies, two malicious mischief, two motorist assists, an animal complaint, an animal assist, a lost property, a harassment, a littering, a public intoxication, a simple assault, a fire dept. assist, a house burglary at Lafayette Place, an auto-burglary at Eagle Point Loop and a business burglary at Verizon although nothing was taken.
Oxford police investigated 21 wrecks, issued 85 traffic citations, and made 15 arrests on the following charges: (3) careless drivers with DUI, (3) public intoxication, (2) speeding with DUI, speeding without a driver’s license but with DUI, a minor in possession of alcohol with a DUI, driving without a car tag but with a DUI, a speeding without car insurance and a suspended driver’s license, a careless driving with no car insurance but with a DUI, a domestic violence, and a warrant served.
Oxford police discovered no code enforcement violations.
University police responded to the following incidents: two public drunks with possession of drug paraphernalia at Stockard Hall, three possessions of alcohol at Stewart Hall, a disturbance via loud music and unnecessary noises at the Campus Walk, a traffic assist at the Grove Loop, an automobile fire at Big Valley Lot, a petit larceny less than $1000 at the Grove, a suspicious vehicle at the Whirlpool Trail, a vandalism at Beta Theta Pi house, a suspicious person at Magnolia Drive, two disorderly conducts with failure to comply at the Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, an aggravated assault per domestic violence at Campus Walk, a service call for an ambulance at Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, a petit larceny at Turner Center, a vehicle stop at Hathorn Road, two suspicious vehicles at Khayat Law School, two vehicle stops on the Rebel Drive, and a service call for an ambulance at the Crosby Hall.
Oxford Fire Dept. responded to the following calls: a wreck with smoke thought to be a car fire but no fire radiator smoking at South Lamar and Oxford Eye Clinic area, a car fire caused by a short in amp under seat but the owner had the fire out before the fire dept. arrived at Tad Smith Coliseum parking lot, a smell of gas but fire dept. found nothing at Beta Theta Pi house, a dumpster fire caused by hot coals the fire dept. immediately extinguished at City parking lot behind Oxford University Club, a smell of gas but fire dept and city police did not smell any gas or find a gas leak at Highway 6 at W. Jackson Avenue, a third floor smoke detector malfunction at Kappa Delta house, a smell of gas but the fire dept. did not smell any at behind the Band Hall, a general fire alarm malfunction at Memory House, a smoke detector activation with smell of something burning caused by turning on the upstairs heat for the first time at 113 Rosemont, an activated smoke detector caused by cooking at Northgate A208, a cancelled call at The Hub, and a public assistance at 350 Price St.
