Dexter Toney – Burglary and Grand Larceny

On May 28, 2014, the Oxford police department took a report in reference to a stolen vehicle. Detectives were able to locate the vehicle and with further investigation found that the vehicle also contained items from a house burglary. After further investigation detectives were able to identify the suspect: Dexter Brandon Toney, 19 years old of Oxford. Warrants were issued for Toney and he was located in Miami, Florida on October 27 2014. Toney refused extradition and a Governor’s Warrant was requested. On January 30, 2015 the paperwork was signed and Toney was ready to be picked up and brought back to Mississippi. On February 5, 2015 Toney was brought to the Lafayette County Detention Center. On February 6, 2015 Toney was taken before Judge Mickey Avent and his bond was set at $25,000.00.

Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 15 disturbances, 12 alarms, 10 noise complaints, 10 suspicious activities, four careless drivings, four shopliftings, four fire department assists, three malicious mischiefs, two civil matters, two simple assaults, two code violations, two improper parking, two recovered property, a 911 hang up call, a trespassing, a petit larceny, an ambulance assist, a welfare concern, a motorist assist and a house burglary at Oxford Wheelestates.

Oxford police investigated 13 wrecks, issued 101 traffic citations, and issued 18 arrests on the following charges: (4) public intoxication; (3) careless driving and DUI; (2) warrants served; a possession of Schedule IV narcotics; a minor in possession of alcohol; a domestic violence; a speeding with DUI; a suspended driver’s license with a warrant served; a driving with no driver’s license, a seatbelt violation and no car insurance and a warrant served; a shoplifting; a speeding with suspended driver’s license and no car insurance; and a seatbelt violation with no driver’s license and no car insurance.

University police responded to the following incidents: an intoxicated person requiring emergency medical service at Brown Hall; a moving violation per suspended license and improper equipment on Rebel Drive; a vandalism to vehicle at Burns Hall; a vandalism to vehicle at Pittman Hall; and a possession of drug paraphernalia at Pittman Hall.

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls: a grass fire at Taco Bell, a fire alarm at Stewart Hall, a car fire at Cherokee, a grass fire at Kroger, a car fire at Oxford station, an airport detail, a gas leak at Kangaroo on Highway 6, a fire alarm at Shadow Creek, a fire alarm at Marriott, a gas leak at Kangaroo on Highway 6, and a fire alarm at Piedmont.
