Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 13 alarms, 10 disturbances, eight suspicious activities, five welfare concerns, four noise complaints, four auto-burglaries (three at Hyatt Loop and one at The Retreat), four malicious mischief, three lost properties, three simple assaults, three motorist assist, three fire department assists, two careless drivers, two improper parking, two petit larcenies, an ambulance assist, a 911 hang up call, a civil matter, an animal complaint, a shoplifting, and a code enforcement violation.
Oxford police investigated 24 wrecks, issued 72 traffic citations, and made 16 arrests on the following charges: (2) warrants served; (2) careless driving with no insurance but with DUI; (2) possession of drug paraphernalia; (2) public intoxication; (2) disorderly conduct; a minor in possession of alcohol; a careless driving with DUI; a speeding with a suspended driver’s license; and a driving with no headlights, no seatbelt and with a suspended driver’s license.
University police department responded to the following incidents: a possession of alcohol at Stockard Hall, a service call for an ambulance and emergency medical services to due to intoxication at the Sigma Chi house, a service call for an ambulance at the Crosby Hall, a possession of alcohol at Martin Hall, a public drunk at Luckyday Residential College, a service call for an ambulance at Campus Walk, a suicide attempt, a petit larceny at the Turner Center, an accidental hit and run at the Pittman Hall, an accidental vehicle wreck at the Student Union Drive, and a suspicious vehicle at the Jackson Avenue Center.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls: a smoke detector activated by cooking without the exhaust fan on at Pi Beta Phi house; an unfounded report of dumpster fire at the Square; a smoke detector activated by a resident at 2590 Harris Drive; a person stuck in an elevator at Turnberry Condos; a broken sprinkler drain pipe in the garage at Solo Apartments; a wreck with entrapment (people were extricated) at Highway 7 North at Country Road 178; a smoke detector activated by drying hair at Phi Mu house; a smoke detector activated by steam in laundry room at Deaton Hall; a smoke detector activated by burned food at Helfey Hall; a smoke detector activated by leaking water at 3001 Old Taylor Road Apt. 405; a smoke detector activated by burned food at 112 Orrwood; and a smoke detector malfunction on fourth floor hall at Natural Products.
