Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Monday, January 23-25
Landon Foster – DUI 3rd
On Friday, January 23, the Oxford police department arrested Landon Blake Foster, 27 years of age from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, for third DUI. On Friday, January 23, the Oxford police department conducted a traffic stop when they saw a vehicle traveling the wrong way on a one-way street. Through the investigations of the officer it was found that Landon Foster was driving under the influence. Foster was charged with a DUI 3rd and given a bond of $2,500.
Robert Hollis – Shooting into a Dwelling
On Saturday, January 24, at approximately 12:40 a.m. the Oxford police department was notified that someone had discharged a firearm inside the Round Table, a restaurant and bar that is located in the downtown business district. Upon arrival officers identified a 24-year-old white male by the name of Robert Hollis who was subsequently taken into custody with compliance. A .45 caliber semi-automatic hand gun was recovered. Hollis has been charged with shooting into an occupied building or dwelling which is a felony. Hollis was given an initial appearance in front of a Justice Court judge. His bond was set at $10,000. No one was injured at the time of the incident and as of now it appears to be an isolated and accidental event. Investigators are still reviewing the details of this case and more information will be released as it becomes available.
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 10 noise complaints, nine suspicious activities, seven alarms, six welfare concerns, six disturbances, five careless drivers, three malicious mischief, three 911 hang up calls, three lost properties, two code violations, two shoplifting, two fire department assists, two animal complaints, two improper parkings, harassing phone calls, a civil matter, a petit larceny, an ambulance assist, a motorist assist, a simple assault and an auto burglary at Huddle House.
Oxford police investigated 16 wrecks, issued 141 traffic citations and made 10 arrests on the following charges: a possession of drug paraphernalia; a shoplifting; a DUI; a warrant served; a trespassing with failure to comply and resisting arrest; a careless driving with possession of concealed weapon and a DUI; a careless driving with possession of drug paraphernalia and no car insurance; a speeding with a suspended driver’s license; a speeding with running a stop sign and a DUI; and a driving with no car tag, in possession of drug paraphernalia with a DUI.
University police responded to the following incidents: a vehicle accident at Residential College South, a vehicle accident at the Union, a service call for an ambulance at Hume Hall, a traffic detail on Chucky Mullins Drive, an intoxicated person at Stockard Hall, a service call for an ambulance at Tad Pad, a harassment at Campus Walk, a vehicle accident at the Union, and a report of harassing phone calls to the UPD office.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls: an alarm set off by the S & S sprinkler company working on it; a vehicle fire at Cash Saver parking lot; a report of grass fire at Sisk Avenue under the Highway 7 bridge set off by a vehicle tailpipe burning the pine needles as the driver left it on the side of the road as he dragged it up to Sisk Avenue – the fire was put out by the rain; an alarm set off by workers setting the alarm system at Deaton Hall; an alarm set off by burned food at The Village building 130, apartment 17; a resident pulled a fire alarm at State Veterans Home; a smoke detector installation at 408 Sisk Avenue; a smoke detector malfunction at Brown Hall; a hallway smoke detector malfunction at 4308 Mockingbird Road.

What about a list of individuals processed into the Jail?

There is only one report from the Sheriff’s office and that is everything within the Oxford police activities.
A list of individuals processed into the jail may be available at the Lafayette County Detention Center. The list may be quite long and won’t be limited to Oxonians.
