Coming off yet another record-breaking year under head coach Connie Price-Smith, the men’s and women’s Rebel track and field squads have announced their full schedule for the 2018 season.
Ole Miss will wait until after the holidays to open the season, beginning Jan. 12 at UAB for the Blazer Invite and running all the way through to March 9-10 for the NCAA Indoor Championships, which will be held at Texas A&M for the second straight season.
The Rebels will get plenty of experience with SEC competition indoors with two stops at Vanderbilt — Jan. 19-20 for the Vanderbilt Invite and Feb. 9-10 for the Music City Challenge — and a stop at Arkansas for the Razorback Invite on Jan. 26-27, which will be on SEC Network +.
Other stops in the indoor season include: a split-squad weekend on Feb. 2-3 at the New Mexico Classic and the Don DeNoon Invite at Southern Illinois; and a stop for the distance runners at the Iowa State Classic on Feb. 9-10.
Ole Miss will wrap up the indoor season at the SEC Indoor Championships (live on SEC Network +) and, ultimately, at the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 9-10 (aired live on ESPN3 and the ESPN family of networks) — both to be hosted at Texas A&M.
Outdoors, the Rebels will again host two home meets: the Ole Miss Classic on March 31 and the Joe Walker Invite on April 13-14.
The outdoor season will start off with a special trip out to the West Coast for the Trailblazer Classic hosted by USC in Los Angeles on March 23-24. The meet will consist of the five high-major Division I schools that have men’s and women’s programs coached by women: Miami (Amy Deem), Ohio State (Karen Dennis), Tennessee (Beth Alford-Sullivan), USC (Caryl Smith Gilbert) and Ole Miss (Connie Price-Smith). The meet will be broadcast live on Pac-12 Network.
Other regular season stops include: the Stanford Invite (March 30-31, Palo Alto, California), Spec Towns Invite (April 6-7, Athens, Georgia), War Eagle Invite (April 20-21, Auburn, Alabama), Bryan Clay Invite (April 20-21, Azusa, California) and the LSU Invite (April 28, Baton Rogue, Louisiana).
Ole Miss will wrap up the outdoor season at the SEC Outdoor Championships (May 11-13, Knoxville, Tennessee), the NCAA East Regional (May 24-26, Tampa, Florida) and the NCAA Outdoor Championships on June 6-9 — which will once again be held in TrackTownUSA at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
