Among its many noted graduates this year, the University of Mississippi may boast a talented makeup artist is among its graduating class this spring: Lovetta Oguhebe.
Oguhebe is a communications science and disorders major who is a few months away from earning her undergraduate degree. Along with mastering her class material, Oguhebe has honed her makeup skills on many students. Now, she is the owner of 2FaceBeauty Makeup – a vision of a beauty company that she plans to use to inspire confidence in her future clients.
This heartfelt vision was borne out of a rough time. Oguhebe reveals that she was in an abusive marriage.
“I started doing YouTube videos that included hair and vlogging,” she says. “I added makeup to my YouTube channel as a way to give it more dimension, but I noticed the personal need for me to learn more about it not only because I became very interested in it, but, as things got worse, it was also a way for me to cover the physical and emotional scarring.”
One day, Oguhebe put her acquired makeup skills to test. She looked at herself in the mirror when a realization dawned upon her.
“From a physical standpoint, I truly noticed how beautiful of a woman that I was,” she says. “As I stood there and began to ponder, I couldn’t understand why someone that supposedly loves me would hurt me. That was how I understood that I am the gatekeeper of my life and am worth more than I give myself credit for.”
As she looked at her reflection, she glimpsed her future self: a more confident, fearless and happier lady.
She says, “That vision was what helped me understand that in order for me to achieve the person that I saw in the mirror, I cannot continue to hurt myself by being in this situation. It was through the mirror experience where I truly realized my self-worth and the importance of understanding my true value enough to break out from the situation.”
With this life-changing decision, Oguhebe wanted to share the life lesson with the ladies with 2FaceBeautyMakeup.
She says, “Makeup isn’t something to hide behind or to be used as a crutch to cover insecurities. It should be used as a way to enhance, embrace or compliment the beauty that was already there to begin with!”
On April 12, she and her organization, African Caribbean Association, is hosting Cocktails&Contour – a (non-alcoholic) cocktail mixer and a makeup class where attending ladies will learn how to create a perfect evening look. Hosted at the Ole Miss Student Union, this event is from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The attendees will feel like guests of honor as they get their photo taken at the red-carpet inspired photoshoot, provided by one of the sponsors. There will be food and drinks provided with a step-by-step demonstration on how to create a Hollywood style evening look. The guests will also receive a 2FaceBeautyMakeup swag bag, filled with makeup and skincare products from the hottest beauty brands on the market.
This event is $25 to attend, and the price point is a steal with the photoshoot, the makeup class and swag bag considered.

Oguhebe says, “The young ladies will be entering the real world soon, and it’s important that they learn how to put their best foot forward.”
She hopes that this event will be “the talk of the university” especially since she is a young entrepreneur.
“I’ve been a student here since 2010 and with life’s ups and downs, I have been focused so much on my schooling in my studies that I didn’t have any time to really get into extracurricular activities as I would have liked to,” she says. “So with creating and growing my makeup brand, this event would be a final hurrah to my tedious but very well worth journey of my undergraduate career.”
She hopes to move to Atlanta to work in the makeup field for two years before applying for graduate school.
“I am doing this so I could fully gain a head start and immerse myself in what it means to be a makeup artist,” she says, “I plan on working with people in the craft in hopes of pursuing this as a future business and full-time career.”
She is completely self-taught in her craft, but in two years she now has a growing portfolio of success. Last July and August, Oguhebe was invited to work with America’s most elite fashion designers and up-and-coming models at Atlanta International Fashion Week. She has worked in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as well as New York and Miami.
She plans to charge $35 per student for a full-face makeup with the pricing of $50 and $70 for prom, formals and weddings.
