Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly was named to the Maxwell award watch list on Wednesday along with 89 other players throughout the country.

The Maxwell Award is awarded annually to a college football player who is judged worthy by a panel of sportscasters, sportswriters, and National Collegiate Athletic Association head coaches and the membership of the Maxwell Football Club to be the best football player in the United States.

Kelly, the 2015 second-team All-SEC quarterback, was a dynamic player for the Rebels during the 2015 season. The Buffalo, New York acquired the third most yards of any player ever during an SEC season, only behind Johny Manziel’s 2012 and 2013 seasons, respectively.

Kelly passed for 4042 yards during the 2015 season, while throwing 31 touchdowns to only 13 interceptions. Kelly was also the team’s second-leading rusher last year as he rushed for an even 500 yards.

Kelly turned down interest in the NFL to return to school for his senior year. Kelly is projected by some to be a first or second round pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
