Ole Miss Picks up Two Key Football Commitments
Oxford played host to a plethora of top prep football talent this weekend as National Signing Day looms just over a week away. The weekend went as well as hoped as Hugh Freeze & Co. picked up commitments from two highly-regarded recruits, Rasool Clemons and Van Jefferson.
Clemons, a weak-side defensive end from Aiken, South Carolina, committed to the Virginia Cavaliers on Aug. 16 but backed off that pledge two weeks ago to reassess his options. The 6’6 212 Lb. prospect is rated as a four-star by 247Sports and chose the Rebels over offers from Clemson, Florida State, LSU, Tennessee and West Virginia among others.
Jefferson, son of Tennessee Titans wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson, is one of the most highly-sought-after receivers in the country. The Brentwood, Tennessee product was given a four-star grade by 247, ESPN, Rivals, and Scout, and is the No. 108 overall player in the country according to the rankings composite. Jefferson committed to Georgia back in March but decommitted earlier this week due in large part to former offensive coordinator Mike Bobo taking the head coaching job at Colorado State. The 6’2 Ravenwood product chose Ole Miss over Florida and Oklahoma and boasts an impressive offer sheet that also includes Auburn, Clemson, Michigan State, Ohio State and Tennessee.
High school players can officially sign binding National Letters of Intent on Feb. 4. HottyToddy.com will have full coverage of Ole Miss on National Signing Day on Facebook, Twitter and on the website.
