Ole Miss Hosts Bayou Bengals in Volleyball Action
The Ole Miss volleyball team returns to the Gillom Sports Center to host the LSU Tigers. Match starts at 6 p.m. carried on the SEC Network.
Coach Steven McRoberts’ squad went 2-0 this past weekend on the road with wins over Auburn and Alabama, improving the Rebels to a 4-3 start in the conference and a 18-3 mark overall.
“This weekend, we moved to ninth in the conference with huge wins over Auburn and Alabama on the road,” McRoberts said. “Wednesday, we have a chance to move up to fourth with a win over LSU.”
When Ole Miss defeated Auburn on Friday night, it was the first conference road win for the Rebels. On Sunday, the red and blue handed the Crimson Tide their first home loss of the season.
Ole Miss is the only conference team undefeated at home with a record of 9-0. LSU looks to come into Oxford on a five-match win streak after defeating Missouri and No. 12 Kentucky last weekend.
“LSU is a top 30 RPI ranked team. They started off the year struggling a little, but they have won five in a row and are playing with a lot of confidence. They are very athletic and have one of the top middles in the conference. We are also playing with a lot of confidence. It should be a really good match,” McRoberts said.
The Tigers are led by sophomore middle blocker Briana Holman, who averages 3.63 kills per set and 1.63 blocks per set.
