Ole Miss Closes Out Regular Season Aganist Vanderbilt
Ole Miss will close out the 2014-15 regular season on Saturday when they host the Vanderbilt Commodores in the last conference game in Tad Smith Coliseum.
Before the start of the game, the Rebels will honor the team’s five seniors: Jarvis Summers, Snoop White, Aaron Jones, M.J. Rhett and Terence Smith. A four-year starter out of Jackson, Summers became only the ninth player in Ole Miss history to reach 80 wins in his career with 83.
Ole Miss (20-10, 11-6) returns to the confines of the Tad Pad after a critical road victory over Alabama. The Rebels have now posted 20 wins for the seventh time in nine seasons under head coach Andy Kennedy.
Vanderbilt (18-12, 8-9) comes into Oxford riding a four-game winning streak after knocking off Mississippi State 66-56 at home Wednesday. The Commodores are led by sophomore Damian James, who is averaging 14.5 ppg. and pulling down 6.3 rpg.
The Commodores lead the league in three-point percentage at 38.1 percent, but rank last in opponent three-pointer percentage at 38.7 percent. Saturday’s matchup will be the 118th meeting between Ole Miss and Vanderbilt with the Commodores holding a 74-42 advantage in the all-time series.
The Rebels currently hold the No. 3 position in the conference, having won the tiebreaker against Texas A&M. If they win, they’ll have that spot locked up, but if they lose, they could fall all the way to sixth.
Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. on SEC Network.
