Ole Miss' Bo Wallace Leads SEC, Nation in Completion Percentage

With the 2014 college football season in full swing, it’s always good to look at how Southeastern Conference quarterbacks stack up against one another heading into Week 4.
SEC Country released the completion percentages for the top five quarterbacks in the conference. It is led by Ole Miss’ Bo Wallace at 75.5 percent, Alabama’s Blake Sims at 75 percent, Georgia’s Hutson Mason at 70.8 percent, Texas A&M’s Kenny Hill at 69.2 percent and Florida’s Jeff Driskel at 63.6 percent.

Wallace’s 75.5 completion percentage also leads the nation and includes nine touchdowns for 1,023 yards and 71 completions on 94 attempts. West Virginia’s gunslinger Clint Trickett follows right behind Wallace at 75.4 percent on the verge of hosting No. 4 Oklahoma in a Big 12 matchup.
The SEC has been known for offensive power and a plethora of outstanding quarterbacks, with many top players continuing to a successful pro career in the NFL. Since 2007, the SEC has had three Heisman-winning quarterbacks: Tim Tebow in 2007, Cam Newton in 2010 and Johnny Manziel in 2012.
Wallace is in his third season at the helm of the Rebel offense. Coming into this year, the senior quarterback had a 100 precent healthy shoulder and competed in all aspects of spring and fall camps, where in the past, he was not able too.
Out of the handful of QBs that left for the NFL from the conference, Wallace returns for his senior season as one of the only returning upperclassmen with on-field game experience. Georgia’ s Hutson Mason is also a senior who started a few games last season for the Bulldogs.
Wallace has been stellar since the first half of the Boise State game in Atlanta, where he threw for one touchdown and three interceptions. After coming out of the locker room for the second half Aug. 28, Wallace did not throw another interception until nearly halftime against Louisiana-Lafayette this past Saturday in Oxford.
Against the Ragin’ Cajuns, Wallace threw for 316 yards, tying him with Eli Manning for the school record of 10 300-yard passing games in an Ole Miss career.
