Ole Miss Ballroom Club Hosts a Dance Party Saturday

The Ole Miss Ballroom Dance Club will host a dance party this Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Ole Miss Band Hall on the University Avenue. All are invited to learn how to rumba, cha-cha slide, and more!

The Ole Miss Ballroom Dance Club is a collective of students, faculty and community members who want to socialize through art of learning to dance. The club collaborates with the Dance Studio of Tupelo to foster an interest in social dance. They also sponsor dance parties and lessons in Oxford area with intent to encourage both accomplished dancers and newcomers to participate together.

The club has monthly dance parties with an included group lesson for both beginner and intermediate dancers.

Matthew Williams, student board representative for the Ole Miss Ballroom Dance Club, said, “The club is open to all people who are interested in social dancing, and all levels of dance ability and people of all ages are welcome to attend.”

The group lesson will be rumba but there will be open dancing to a variety of music and styles. Members of the Ballroom Dancing Club can work with those not familiar with the dancing styles. The group lesson will be taught by DVIDA (Dance Vision International Dance Association) certified instructors provided by the Dance Studio of Tupelo.

Those attending do not need to bring partners. The cost of attendance is $5 for student members, $9 for student non-members and $8 for members and $12 for non-members.

The club also has a monthly dance party Feb. 7, preceded by a workshop in tango and cha-cha. There are group dance lessons held during the week that vary each month.
