OHS Principal Martin Discusses School Opening

101 Charger Loop is the new home address to Oxford High School, which opened its doors to high school students on Jan. 7 for the first time.
“It was a great first day,” said Oxford High School Principal Mike Martin. “It totally exceeded our expectations. The kids are ecstatic about being in such a spacious, high-tech and well-lit building. We are looking forward to the new year in our beautiful new school and continuing great traditions at OHS.”
The new state-of-the-art facility gives school officials and students something that’s been needed for a while – more space to address continual growth in the school district. The new two-story building offers 70 classrooms for more than 1,000 Oxford School District students in grades nine through twelve.
Located east of Highway 7 off Sisk Avenue, the new high school will cover 75 acres of land. With the need to expand to prepare for larger incoming classes in the near future, a new 220,000 square foot facility was needed in the Oxford School District.
“The Oxford School District has been providing a quality education for students for many years,” said Oxford School District Superintendent Brian Harvey. “We simply did not have the space required for the growth we’ve been experiencing. Now we have it.”
