The No. 3 ranked Ole Miss Rebels improved to 7-0 at the Homecoming game Saturday night in Oxford after a 34-3 win over Tennessee.
The game started out as a true defensive test.  Both teams had trouble moving the ball in their first couple of possessions, and the first quarter ended with no score for either team.
The Volunteers got on the board first with a field goal early in the second quarter, but Tennessee failed to produce any more scores throughout the game. Ole Miss did not let that lead last long, however, as senior quarterback Bo Wallace found Vince Sanders on back-to-back plays for a touchdown. The Rebels would not look back after that.
Coach Hugh Freeze’s squad added a quick touchdown as the Vols would fumble the kickoff, and Jaylen Walton scampered in for a touchdown a few plays later.
Wallace was prefect on the night once again, not throwing a pick in four straight SEC games this season.
The Landshark defense did not allow UT to score a touchdown, and they also added a total of three interceptions in the game with Senquez Golson grabbing two and Mike Hilton with the other. Golson’s interceptions pushed his total up to seven on the year.
The defense has only allowed their opponents to score a total of six touchdowns through seven games this season.
Looking ahead to next week, the Rebels travel to Death Valley to take on unranked LSU to hopefully win two consecutive games over the Bayou Bengals. Kickoff will either be at 6:15 or 6:30 p.m., as dictated by ESPN, and College GameDay will meet Rebel nation for the second time this season as they broadcast live from Tiger Stadium at 8 a.m. Saturday.
