Peyton Boone and Leslie Heafner, identical twins and VPs at the company, work on custom insoles.

“If your feet feel good, your body feels good.”

Robert Salmon never forgot those words spoken to him by his father many years ago. Today they’re the motivation behind the development of the new website, www.FootMindBody.com.

“There is a great deal of enthusiasm stirring around the offices of FootMindBody,” said CEO and President Robert Salmon. “Our employees are fired up and really excited about our new direction and our product offerings.”

The FootMindBody philosophy centers on helping customers sustain an active physical and mental lifestyle. The company believes this begins with healthy feet. “When feet are healthy, the mind and body will follow,” states Salmon.

The new website has a strong focus on helping customers stay active. starting with the feet. Their state-of-the-art custom inserts are created specifically for each customer. The company offers several lines of specialty socks and stylish shoes and sneakers for runners, golfers, hikers, cyclists and other sports enthusiasts. FootMindBody has partnered with a group of 27 licensed compounding pharmacists to develop and offer their own line of customized holistic Nutraceuticals.  (http://footmindbody.com/nutracueticals.html)

We work with companies who share our philosophy, Salmon stresses.  “We love the line of Kneipp botanical bath and massage products,” Salmon said. (http://footmindbody.com/personal/kneipp.html) “The Kneipp philosophy considers the ‘Five Pillars’  — water, plants, exercise, nutrition and balance to be closely linked and united in a holistic life philosophy.”

Salmon explains, “Knowing what we now know about the human body today and how to treat alignments, there is no reason why anyone can not sustain an active lifestyle as they grow older. The problem has been, traditionally as a society we have been trained to relieve pain and discomfort with pills rather than focusing on preventing the pain in the first place. There is a whole lot of information out there on the benefits of nutrition and exercise, using holistic and botanical therapies. We want to be there to help people maintain good health while educating others of these benefits.”

With an emphasis on customer service and offering the highest quality products, FootMindBody hopes to expand the business exponentially. “People want to be and feel healthy and comfortable,” said marketing and promotion manager John Allison, the son of Mose Allison, Oxford music legend.  “It’s our job to assist them in doing so and that is precisely what will make us successful in the long run.”

Salmon knows what it takes to be successful. As a 1967 graduate of Ole Miss’ School of Pharmacy, he established his own Pharmacy and the Diabetic Shoppe in Charleston, Miss. Both companies are family owned and operated and employ more than 60 local residents. “With the right ideas and customer-service oriented business philosophy we have been able to thrive in Tallahatchie County,” Salmon said.

For a region that has seen its share of hard times, Salmon offers rays of hope to his employees by treating them with fairness and compassion. Salmon and his wife Sharon and their identical twin daughters, Peyton and Leslie, can be found in their offices working hard and doing whatever it takes to grow the business.

Robert’s daughter and VP of Customer Service, Leslie Heafner, states, “We guarantee the best customer service available and if you have any problems, all you have to do is give us a call and we will make it right.”

FootMindBody uses the latest laser scanning technology to capture an image of each customer’s feet. A custom insert is designed and crafted from this scan. One day the company hopes to fabricate custom insoles for the athletic department at Ole Miss, Allison said.

“When you receive your custom insert, you’ll  also want a modern, stylish shoe or sneaker to put them in and that is why we are offering the latest and greatest in comfort and performance footwear,” Allison added. “We are working with shoe companies on the cutting edge of performance like Brooks, Propet, Aetrex and Dr. Comfort.”

Now you have a custom insert and a stylish shoe/sneaker to put them in. Now what? “We offer specialty socks from Drymax that employ the latest technologies,” Allison said. “Did you know that they actually make socks that use anti-blister, anti-microbial technologies with dual layer sweat removal systems?”

The custom insoles side of the business has been strong, says twin Salmon daughter Peyton Boone, vice president of shipping and receiving. “It’s growing rapidly as people are informed of the benefits of using custom inserts,” she said. “In the past our customers came to us with special foot conditions. Today however, more and more people with no special foot conditions are realizing the benefits of a custom insole. Runners, hikers, golfers and athletes the world over are reaping personal performance benefits from custom insoles.”
