Louisiana Rub Down Opening Offers Hospitality, Cajun Food

Dear HottyToddy.com readers who love down-home native, southern food,
Today, I covered the ribbon cutting at a new restaurant called Louisiana Rub Down, located on Highway 30 in Oxford, and the service and food both exceeded all of my expectations.
When I arrived, the parking lot was full of people standing around waiting for the big event, and truthfully, eager to eat some spicy Cajun-style food. Louisiana Rubdown is the dream-come-true and labor-of-love belonging to Mike and Regarner Thompson and their family. The Thompsons recently moved back to Oxford after living in Baton Rouge for the last 25 years.
After the official ceremony was finished, I got down to what I really came for. I’ve heard from all my friends and HottyToddy.com colleagues that the Louisiana Rubdown menu is without compare.
With my stomach rumbling, I had one big problem. I use a walker to get around and it’s difficult for me to use stairs. Some stairs at the entrance to the restaurant barred my way to what my lips were watering for — good Cajun cooking. I just wasn’t sure how I’d be able to order, but I soon learned that the Thompsons are as expert and up-front in their Southern hospitality as they are in stuffing a sausage or making the perfect rue.

No sooner had I started talking to the gracious Mrs. Regarner than she offered to personally help me with my order.
When she kindly presented me with a great-looking pulled pork sandwich and french fries, I didn’t hesitate to dig right in. Both were very delicious. The pork was cut-with-a-fork tender and melted in my mouth as I eagerly wolfed down as much as I could bite off.
The barbecue sauce slathered on the heaping sandwich had a sweet hint, but was mild to the taste. A savory Hickory flavor jumped right off the plate into my delighted mouth.
The size of the pulled pork sandwich was immense and there was no doubt I’d leave Louisiana Rubdown filled up and happy. By the way, the tasty sauce is also perfect for dipping your fries.
It was a wonderful day for the Thompson family as they officially opened their popular new restaurant. The great food they offer and the friendly family atmosphere that surrounds the whole experience here make one thing certain.
It won’t be long before this hungry reporter returns for another visit. My recommendation is you beat me to it and get over to Louisiana Rubdown as soon as possible.
