Local Day of Service Success for Oxford Residents

(Madison, Mississippi) – The first annual What a Difference a Day Makes: MS Service Day took place this past Friday, October 4, benefitting several Oxford residents living with multiple sclerosis.

After a need was expressed for home repairs, yard clean up, painting etc. by those living with MS, Regions Bank partnered with the National MS Society Alabama-Mississippi Chapter to organize the “What a Difference a Day Makes: MS Service Day.”

James Spencer, an Oxford resident living with MS who benefitted from MS Service Day, shares how he became involved in Friday’s service project, “I called the National MS Society’s toll free number earlier this year looking for some assistance around my home. Not long after, I received a call from Jan Bell, Alabama-Mississippi Chapter President, offering help through a service day organized by my local Regions Bank branch. After seeing what the Regions volunteers accomplished today, I can say that my home hasn’t looked this good in 30 years! We are so thankful for their assistance.”

Jody Wilson, another recipient of Friday’s service project says, “I can’t thank the Regions volunteers enough for the assistance they gave us. I am overwhelmed and ‘thank you’ just doesn’t feel adequate. Their efforts greatly raised my spirits by lightening the load just a little.”

Collaborations between the National MS Society, local corporate sponsors, such as Regions Bank, and volunteers are vital to assisting those living with MS in their local community. “These successfully completed service projects affirm the impact that these partnerships are positive and beneficial ones. They positively affect the lives of local families living with multiple sclerosis. We could not be more pleased with the outcomes from today,” Andrew Bell, Alabama-Mississippi Chapter Vice President, stated after the completion of Friday’s projects.

Friday’s team was compiled of 11 volunteers who were able to assist with heavy yard work, debris removal, exterior and interior painting, home cleaning, organizing and internal repairs.
