Approximately 5:15 p.m., Friday, Feb. 19, Tishomingo County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic situation at a residence at 231 CR 201 that resulted in the death of the suspect and one officer and injured three more officers.

One of those officers, Bubba Holifield, took to social media to thank Ole Miss Head Coach, Hugh Freeze, for taking the time to send this helmet to the injured officers.

“I’m a MSU fan all the way, but I have to post this. This helmet was given to me a by man that I now love and respect,” Holifield said. “Hugh Freeze took time out of his day to give a little something back to those of us who were injured. If that isn’t a man with a servants heart then I don’t know what is. Thank you Ole Miss and Hugh Freeze for lifting us up!”

Holified was shot in his ankle last weekend, but is expected to undergo a full recovery. In fact, Officer Holified and his wife plan on going to Costa Rica in July for a mission trip. The trip was planned before Holifield was shot, and he has been raising money.

Like Holified, Coach Freeze and the Ole Miss football team are going on a mission trip in March to Camp Marie, Haiti, and are raising money. It is a unique bond between Holifield and Freeze as they both enjoy serving other people.
