Iconic Sno Biz Has Moved — Literally
Coach John Sherman’s colourful Snow Biz shack, long a spring and summer fixture for children and adults alike on East University Avenue will open in the spring at its new location in the North Lamar Plaza.
Generations of high school students have worked at Snow Biz, including Kate Wallace of Oxford who said, “It was a great place to work. It was seasonal and allowed me to keep up with my soccer program.”
Sherman has operated Snow Biz for 20 years, employing mostly local high school students.
“It’s really become a place for mothers to bring their sons and fathers…to bring their daughters and mix-match and for families to come have a little bonding time,” Sherman told the Oxford Citizen. “Everybody wants to go get a treat. By having the outdoor seating and the shade part, I’ve seen a lot of couples and a lot of families on the porch swing, talking and relaxing. It’s been a special place; both my daughters worked here and grew up here. I feel fortunate to have been here this long.”
Sno Biz was physically moved from its spot to allow room for a new Auto Zone in its place, but fear not — the shack will be open again soon enough not far from where it’s lived for 22 years.
