Hugh Freeze: 2013 Versus 2016 Recruits

As some of our beloved Ole Miss football players are getting ready to leave Oxford and move on to the next step of their football career, Ole Miss welcomes some new stars to make an impression on the football program.
The University of Mississippi Athletics program has proven to be very appealing to prospective recruits. In 2013, the first year Hugh Freeze served as head coach, The University of Mississippi gained some of the nation’s top recruits for football.
Class of 2013
In 2013, Ole Miss fans were ecstatic that five-star recruit, Robert Nkemidiche, chose to join his brother, Denzel Nkemidiche at Ole Miss. Robert was considered the No. 1 defensive line prospect of his class. Nkemdiche was deciding between various SEC schools before choosing Ole Miss. The 6-foot-5-football star will enter the upcoming NFL draft with great promise.
Five-star recruits Laremy Tunsil and Laquon Treadwell have also made a huge impact on the Ole Miss football program. Weighing 305-pounds, Tunsil was the No. 1 offensive tackle prospect of his class. ESPN.com listed Treadwell as the No. 1 wide receiver recruit and Rivals.com named him the No. 5 overall prospect. Treadwell chose Ole Miss over Oklahoma, Notre Dame and others.
Class of 2016
This morning the excitement continues as five-star recruit, Shea Patterson, commits to Ole Miss. Patterson is the No. 1 quarterback in the 2016 recruiting class. Patterson had numerous offers from other schools such as Alabama, Baylor, Clemson and many more.
Adding to Ole Miss’ impressive list of commits is Greg Little. Little is the No. 1 offensive tackle player in the country. He was previously committed to Texas A&M before making the switch to The University of Mississippi.
Five-star prospect and Under Armour All-American, Benito Jones, has also committed to Ole Miss. The defensive tackle player is listed at the No. 7 overall recruit by ESPN.com. Jones had offers from Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Mississippi State and Southern Miss.
All of our Ole Miss football players have made such a profound impact on The University of Mississippi’s athletic program. Hugh Freeze has helped us recruit some of the most talented players in the nation and we look forward to seeing what our new recruits will bring to the 2016 season.
