Heaton: 8 Southern Phrases to Keep You On the Guest List

Published

on

Southerners are very proud of their cuisine. If you want to start an argument, ask a group for their preferred brand of anything from mayonnaise to molasses. If you have the great good fortune to enjoy a Southerners table for dinner (lunch) or supper (evening), here’s how to compliment your host:

1. This is cooked to a turn.

2. Tastes so good it makes me want to slap my grandma.

3. This is so good it would have brought tears to a glass eye.

4. So good it makes my tongue want to slap my brains out.

5. This will make your liver quiver and your bladder splatter.

6. So good it’ll make your tongue jump out and lick the eyebrows right off your head.

7. It really isn’t fit to eat. (It’s delicious, and I am not passing it, sorry!)

8. I’ve had a gracious plenty. (No more thank you..wait did you say Peach Cobbler?)

For bonus points, say grace!

“Grace in the kitchen, Grace in the hall, please O God, don’t let them get it all.”
