Halloween Goes On In Oxford Whatever Weather
Plenty of opportunities for Halloween fun even if it rains.
It’s that time of year again. Time for the spookiest ghosts and gremlins to come out to play. It’s time for candy and time for pranks. So what better place for Halloween to come alive than the fun-filled city of Oxford, Miss.
Although rain is likely in the Oxford forecast, Halloween activities are still in play. And plenty of Indoor activities are scheduled if you’re worried about keeping the kids dry.
If you’re looking to sing and get candy all at the same time, then North Oxford Baptist of Oxford is hosting a Hallow-him Carnival on the evening of Oct. 31 at their Family Life Center from 5:30 p.m.- 7 p.m. Admission is free. First Baptist Church will hold its annual Halloween Carnival in its Christian Life Center, Oct. 31 from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. According to Pat Freeman, these activities have been going on for years. The fun includes face painting, different games for the children and an array of food and drinks. If weather permits, inflatable bounce houses will be available for the children. Oxford-University United Methodist Church is hosting a Carnival, Costume Contest, Chili Contest and Silent Auction tonight, Oct. 30, from 5 p.m.- 6:30 p.m. This event is $20 per family. For more about this event and to obtain interest request forms for the contests, please visit www.ouumc.org .
Azalea Gardens, will be holding a Halloween /Trick or Treat Party for all ages. Activities include games, prizes and refreshments. Lori from Azaleas Gardens says this is a time when the residents get to see little ones all dressed up and having fun.
For everyone who enjoys Haunted Houses, Oxford High School has created a Haunted House with all the frightening details. Reed Mallette, Stage Manager for the Oxford High School Theatre Department, explains how Oxford High students have been putting the haunted house together and getting it ready for the public. This event will be held in the retail space between Belk Department Store and Hibbet Sports on Jackson Ave behind Chic-Fill-A-, today Oct. 30 from 7:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m., and Oct. 31 from 7:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. For more about Oxford High theatre productions, visit them on Facebook @OHS Theatre.
And for you college kids, the Square will be open for Halloween hijinks.
