It was a family atmosphere in front of the courthouse with everyone enjoying the great music.

On Friday, the Oxford Downtown Council presented free live music from 6 to 8 p.m. by George McConnell on the Courthouse lawn.
McConnell has been lead guitarist in the bands Beanland, Kudzu Kings, and Widespread Panic and presently with his band the Nonchalants.
McConnell and the fleet-fingered Daniel Karlish entertained a large crowd, who included music fans of every age.

Courthouse was a lovely venue.

And Friday also happened to be the day the great songwriter Jesse Winchester passed away. George and Daniel almost always perform one of his songs, “Mississippi, You’re On My Mind” in their sets, and Friday was no exception.
