Oxford Police Lt. Kevin Houston said Saturday night the accident in which two Ole Miss students were killed and two were injured early Saturday morning is “still under investigation”.
Houston said the Ford Mustangthe students were driving went off the road on Highway 7, between Highway 6 and University Avenue around 4:45 a.m.
“That’s a short stretch between the two roads,” he said.
The Jackson Clarion-Ledger reported Christopher J. Grimaud, 20, of St. Louis and Kevin J. Eagan, 18, of St. Charles, Mo., were killed. The two students were pronounced dead at the scene.
Arthur Lueking and James Connors, both of the St. Louis area, were taken to separate hospitals. One student was taken to The Med in Memphis and the other to Baptist Hospital North Mississippi.
Ole Miss Dean of Students Sparky Reardon said, “The University of Mississippi is shocked and saddened by this tragic incident.”
“Our hearts break when we lose students and today the whole University is hurting. We will work through our University Counseling Center to address theemotional needs of the students’ families and friends. The thoughts and prayers of the whole University family are with the families of the students we lost and those who have been injured,” he said.
Lt. Houston said it is not known what caused the south bound car to go off the road and flip.
“More information will be released when available,” he said.

Background: At approximately 4:45 a.m. on Saturday, November 9th, the Oxford Police Department responded to a call for an overturned vehicle on Highway 7 near University Avenue. Two of the four passengers were pronounced dead on the scene. The driver was transported to The Med in Memphis and the other passenger remains at Baptist Hospital in Oxford. All four passengers were students at the University of Mississippi.
